If I remember correctly, I took this picture right after getting my first job on a Med-Surg-Onc unit. First one in my family to go to college and land a respected job in healthcare, I MADE IT!! A part of me just wished my guidance councilor could see I wasn’t the girl in Saturday clean up and In-school suspension anymore.
My parents could definitely make you laugh and cry over stories I put them through through adulthood - I just tell them I was always a rebel with a cause and other times I was just MAKING BAD DECISIONS as would say) 🤐
I look back at the “that was close” moments and really thank my family and the adults around me who pushed me and said “you can do it”, “you are smarter than that” and “go to college so you can have more life choices”.
What I know now is that college isn’t for everyone. Some of the biggest entrepreneurs dropped out of college (Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg) but for me it was the first step in the right direction and it ultimately led me to my passion and purpose.
Leaving my parents to start adulting at 17 was the beginning of a decade long journey to get me to the happiest I’ve ever been; not to mention never more clear on my goals.
It’s a reminder that whatever failures, set-backs or bad decisions you’ve made- its all just a chapter in your truly INSPIRING story of overcoming some of your biggest fears.
